I just don't get it

After two days of ice and snow I was sure that we were pass the chance of loosing our electricity. That's what I get for thinking too much. Low and behold, around 7:15 tonight, click the power goes out and here we all sit in the dark.

Thank goodness my hubby was home to help get some light in the house. It was so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. My main concern was that it would get too cold in the house. Poogie has a terrible cough and I am trying to keep her from getting sicker. She felt so bad today she did not fight me about staying home from the YMCA, which was a miracle. She did miss Sweet Pea desperately, but she just didn't feel like going.

I was quite down in the dumps when I got to the Y today. Things have not been going well with hubby's job. The weather has been dealing them fits, so they haven't been working as much. But, thanks to two of my best girlfriends at the Y I felt a little better today. What is nice about talking to them was that I found it's not just me that worries about all this stuff we all do. It doesn't seem so bad when you know others are dealing with the same thing. So thanks girls, you know who you are.

Well, the house is warm, Poogie is asleep and not coughing, so off I am going to bed.

Our pets.

I have been inspired by my Poogie's sweet friend (who I will now call Sweet Pea) who received an adorable puppy for her birthday to put a few pics of our sweet pets on my blog.

Allow me to introduce Claudy Mae aka Pus. Poogie named her Puss in Boots when we adopted her. Her name was Claudette when we got her, but no one really liked it. So Poogie named her and the name stuck. However, it is quite embarrassing to call her by that name so in public we call her Claudy Mae. We have identified her to be a Russian Blue cat. What's funny is that she doesn't really act like a cat. She runs, or I should say gallops like a horse. Stealth is not her strong suit. She begs at the table like a dog and will eat almost anything. In her free time she likes to give our Chihuahua a tongue bath.

While our cat doesn't act like a cat, our dog, Buffy, believes that she is actually a child, just like Poogie and TT. She is the first person my hubby must greet upon coming home. If not she pouts something terrible. She loves snow and likes to try to catch snowflakes in her mouth. That is what lead to the photo of her. We had some sand delivered for our swimming pool two summers ago and she dove into it like it was snow. We all laughed until we cried at her wild behavior. She barks like a T-Rex but runs at the first sight of trouble. She is unusual, but that's okay. She is a perfect fit for our unusual family.

Without our pets our lives would not be near as interesting as they are now. They are our friends, without whom life would be quite lonely.

It's Sunday night already.

What a weekend! It started out to be a long yucky weekend due to my constant stomach mess. My hubby and I have been dealing with upset stomachs for a week now. No, fever or anything just upset stomachs.

Anywho, we had planned on going out Friday for dinner and a movie. I didn't feel well most of the day but I knew this might be our last chance for a while so I took it. Plus, I had been waiting to see the movie that we were going to see for a while. So off we went to eat at our favorite restaurant and to see Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. It was excellent, maybe my favorite of the three Underworld movies.

If that wasn't enough we came home and watched, The Strangers, after the kids went to bed. Now that was a scary movie and one I don't care to see again. I like fantasy movie, I don't like ones based on true stories. They give me the creeps.

Saturday was spent at a birthday party for a very special little girl, Poogie's best friend. It was so much fun. Poogie's only regret was that she didn't get to spend more one on one time with her bud, but then that is hard to do at a birthday party full of little girls. She still had a blast and got to spend time with several of her other friends from dance class and even her dance teacher whom she just loves.

From there we went to a swim party with our local homeschool group. The kids had a great time, and my hubby and I got to visit with our friends too. The kids came home happy but exhausted. And that leads to today, which was spent cleaning in the morning and resting the rest of the day. We were all still tired and not feeling well so it was nice just to lay around and watch movies this afternoon.

Now off to read my book and hopefully to go to sleep at a decent hour.

So this is why they call Wednesday, hump day!

I don't know what it is about Wednesdays lately with our family. It has become the dreaded day all week. No one wants to do their school work or chores. They are cranky and tired. This has become a phenomenon in our house over the past month. We are cruising along great and then BAM it's Wednesday. I am just glad it is almost over so we can move on. Only a few hours till Thursday, yay!

Weekend update

The weekend is just hours from being a memory. It has been pretty much a blur. Friday was spent standing over TT to get him to complete all his school work for the week. He isn't very happy with me at this moment since I took away all his electronic toys until his attitude improves. And when I say all his toys I mean all, the PS2, PSP, and Ipod. I am just tired of being the nagging mom so that he gets anything done. And this isn't only about school work, its chores too.

Anywho, Saturday was Be a Ballerina day at Poogie's dance school. She had a great time dancing, dressing up in costumes, having her make up and hair done just like a real ballerina. This is the second year we have done it and she has enjoyed it so much. I will post photos from the day this week.

Afterwards we met TT and my hubby to go shopping for mattresses. Our bed has had it. My hubby and I wake up each morning sore and not feeling very rested. So we have been wanting to get new mattresses, until we priced some at a local furniture store. They were running a sale, yeah a sale where they mark everything way up and then say its on sale at ?% off. I actually started laughing when I seen some of the prices of a queen size mattress set. I mean they cost more that my first car. We are going to keep looking until we find something more reasonable.

Today was spent going to the local Wally World to buy groceries, due to the fact that my children have eaten just about all the food in the house. After putting all of it away, my hubby took the kids out to ride their 4-wheelers since it was actually above freezing. I spent a few hours scrapbooking the pictures I took when we went to the American Girl Bistro in Atlanta, GA last may. It was nice and relaxing. I also got to watch a few episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer from season 2. My hubby picked up season 2 for me Friday when he got home.

We ate dinner, put the kids to bed and watch the season premiere of Big Love on HBO. Looks like it will be an interesting season. Who knows. I guess I better turn in. It's back to school and housework tomorrow.

It's Only Wednesday?!

This has been the longest 3 days! It feels like it should be Friday. Today was the first full day of school we got in all week, and it was a workout.

Monday was Poogie's birthday, so I didn't make her do school, and TT only did the basics. That afternoon we had a homeschool skating party, so that sealed the deal. Then Tuesday my hubby came home for only that day before he had to leave again. So, I gave the kids the morning off to be with their dad. We took Poogie to Red Robin's, her choice of places to eat for her b-day, then off to the YMCA. The kids we so happy to be back and to see their friends. We were also blessed that Poogie's best buddy could join the class. She was so happy.

After the Y we were off to ballet class, followed by a delightful supper from a drive-thru window. We arrived home and Poogie blew out the candles on her ice cream birthday cake. Whew! And that was only Tuesday.

Today I was met with groans and complaints that I requested that both Tuesday and Wednesdays work could be completed. It wasn't that much because we haven't started all subjects yet. But to hear my ds tell it I was being the wicked witch. Well, the work got done, and I even planned out two weeks of lessons for TT. I will work on Poogie's Friday. I am trying to free up my weekend to be with the kids and to take Poogie to "Be a Ballerina" day at her dance school. At least I have a plan;)

I am trying to enjoy teaching TT but math is just not letting that happen. The further we get into MUS Epsilon the more I dread math every day. I just don't like how the lessons are presented and the skills are taught. I wish we could order Teaching Textbooks so I could have a little break from the stress. But, I will just have to wait.

My Sweet Poogie is 7

I can't believe that my baby girl, my sweet Poogie turned 7 years old today. These years have flown by. Of course she is still my baby and will be when she's thirty.

She got up this morning so excited to open her presents, since we decided not to have a party she got to open them as soon as she got up. To say that she was excited was an understatement. The big surprise was when the UPS man pulled up and delivered her new American Girl Doll, Chrissa. We didn't think she would be here, but somehow she made it. And here she is.

It just so happened that our homeschool skating day was today too. What a treat it was that her very best buddy from dance class was able to be there. On top of that she brought her a bag full of presents and two balloons. Poogie was over the moon. Now she has a total of 4 Webkinz, her new obsession. Her sweet friend from dance got her 2, and I got her one. She already had one so now I will spend my day registering them sometime soon.

Tomorrow we will be back at the YMCA. The kids can't wait and neither can I.

Excuse Me,

We have lost our groove and can't seem to find it. Whew, I had forgotten how hard it is to get back into the school thing after a long break. I feel like a fish out of water. Poogie is doing fine she jumped right back in head first never missing a beat like always. TT, however, is having a Dori moment. You know the fish on Finding Nemo that forgot everything the moment after she heard it. Yep, that's TT.

For a mom like me that doesn't go over very well. To say it drives me crazy is an understatement. So after two days of stressing over it I just decided to enjoy being with my kids tonight and not to worry about it until, tomorrow.

So, we went to eat sushi at our favorite place after Poogie's ballet class. It was a lot of fun, just the three of us laughing about our mouths being on fire due to the extremely hot sauce on the sushi. TT's face literally turned beet red from the heat but he took it like a man.

Now my little ones are tucked into bed and here I sit typing in between bites of my favorite, sinful treat crunchy peanut butter and maple syrup. I know, yuck. That's what my family says, but I love it. It's just one of the quirky things about me.

My heart goes out to....

John Travolta and Kelly Preston for the loss of their sweet son Jett. I have always loved John as an actor, but even more because he has always been said to be such a good hearted and kind person by all that work with him and know him. It was heart breaking to hear of the death of his son. My thoughts are with the family.

My New Scrap Space!

It still feels like Christmas at my house. My hubby went all out to make my scrap area the best it could be. We moved my old computer desk to the living room to use for school and bought me the new one you see in the slide show. I love it. It is great to work on and gives me plenty of space. It fit really well into the small corner of our bedroom that is also my scrapbook area.

The shelves about my work area are great for displaying my photos, flowers and CREATE. I have always wanted shelves like these. The area under the shelves were a great idea of my hubby's. He found this plastic peg board kit at the local Wally World. It worked out great to put a lot of my most used tools, photos, and new stuff at arms reach. I Love It!

The other side I covered with just plain cork boards to display current projects or newly finished ones.

My desk also gave me room to use the new computer we purchased last year, my photo printer, and i-pod. Although I did borrow my son's player until I get one;)

The printer and Cricut area are still a work in progress. I am using a table cloth on it for now, but I want to make a cover with a cool contemporary fabric when I find one I like.

My scrap cabinet, which in it's former life was our entertainment center in the living room, got reorganized. I still need to label my paper organizers but it works really well.

Now to actually scrap some photos using my new space.

Happy New Year!!!!!

It's 2009!!!!

I hope that each and everyone of you had a great New Year's Eve!! We had one of the best.

We made one of our favorite dinners, homemade Enchiladas with rice, plus cheese dip and homemade tortilla chips!!! Yum-o!

Then we played board games for hours, finishing off with a round of Sing Star on the PS2.

The kids only made it till 9 p.m., they were tuckered out. I was the only one awake to ring in the new year, but I enjoyed it.

Eat your black-eyed peas today and have a great New Year!!!
