Still busy.

Yes, as usual our life is still busy. This week we have yearly testing and I am working as a monitor during the testing. I know what was I thinking. Well, I was thinking that if my son will be there anyway and I can't drive home for those few hours I might as well help out. It just seems like all I get done is run here, run there. Talk about a dog chasing it's tail.

Next week will be our last at the YMCA program for the summer. We will miss everyone but it will give us time to catch up on school work. I am looking forward to some quite, unscheduled time, but that may be just a dream for a while.

Sometimes a song says it all...

Run your car off the side of the road
Get stuck in a ditch way out in the middle of nowhere
Or get yourself in a bind lose the shirt off your back
Need a floor, need a couch, need a bus fare

This is where the rubber meets the road
This is where the cream is gonna rise
This is what you really didn't know
This is where the truth don't lie

{Chorus}
You find out who your friends are
Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas, get there fast
Never stop to think 'what's in it for me?' or 'it's way too far'
They just show on up with their big old heart
You find out who your friends are

Everybody wants to slap your back
wants to shake your hand
when you're up on top of that mountain
But let one of those rocks give way then you slide back down look up
and see who's around then

This ain't where the road comes to an end
This ain't where the bandwagon stops
This is just one of those times when
A lot of folks jump off

When the water's high
When the weather's not so fair
When the well runs dry
Who's gonna be there?

You find out who your friends are
(yeah, yeah)
You find out who your friends are

Run your car off the side of the road
Get stuck in a ditch way out in the middle of nowhere
(Well man, I've been there)
Or get yourself in a bind lose the shirt off your back
Need a floor, need a couch, need a bus fare
(Man, I've been there)
Man, I've been there
Oooh yeah.

Update!

As you can see by the slide show we have been keeping busy. We took the trip to Shiloh for the annual reenactment to go along with the lapbook unit on the Civil War we have been working on. It has been interesting for both TT and myself to learn about he Civil War. I never really learned much about it in school and what better way to learn about it than to go and see where the battles were fought.

It was really neat to see the soldiers all dressed and acting out the battle. The cannons were loud and smoky, and the muskets were quieter than we thought they would be. We also were able to meet some interesting participants that were there to represent the Union army and navy. Each person took the time to discuss their role and information with us. It was fascinating.

I do recommend going to any reenactment near your hometown. It was definitely worth the drive.

Big NEWS!!

I just read on my favorite author's blog, Laurell K. Hamilton, that they are making a t.v. movie out of her Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series. I am like a kid in a candy store. First we have, True Blood based on the Charlaine Harris books, Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, and now my favorite Anita Blake.

You can read about the press release here on her blog.

I am a big Buffy fan and Anita Blake is a more mature and rougher vampire slayer. Plus, her books are based in St. Louis, my home town. Granted the Anita books are a little more "hard core" than the others but I love them. There are like 16 of the novels which are also being converted to comic books.

The movie is suppose to come out next year on the Independent Film Channel. I can't wait!!!
