Don't you just love used book sales...

I had forgotten how great a used book sale could be. I used to love to go to yard sales too, but I just don't make time for them anymore. So last Friday Poogie and I went to a local used curriculum sale and I was very happy with my purchases.

I went in search of a reader that was missing from Poogies reading group from BJP. I purchased it used as in on line and it was missing one of the readers. Plus, she is wanting a Science curriculum like TT's. I was planning on doing unit studies that went along with TT's lessons. I found a great one but the girl had already sold it. Darn. I hope she will be happy with the unit studies. I don't think a 1st grader really needs a full science curriculum.

As an addition to our science studies I bought a great set of books, The Explore and Learn series from Southwestern books. They are full of info on the kids favorite science subjects. Plus I got the whole set that is like new for $20.

Summer Fix It Projects.

Summer To Do List:

I have been planning out the projects that I want to complete this summer. It may be a little advantageous but I hope to complete most of them. So here it goes.



1. Paint and decorate Poogies bedroom.

2. Paint TT's bedroom.

3. Clean and Paint front porch. (In progress)

4. Landscape around front porch.

5. Paint Master bedroom and bath.


As you can see most projects involve painting. I don't mind the actual painting just the moving of everything to get to the walls. I know it is worth is when it is done after completing our living room, kitchen and kids bathroom, but I still dread it. I would much rather just do the decorating. However, I am way too cheap to pay anyone to paint my walls when I am perfectly capable of doing it myself.

The numbers show that many of my friends have been stopping by my blog, but nobody is leaving any comments. I know I'm not the best at commenting on blogs but I am starting to feel like I can here crickets chirp its so quiet out there.

I also know that my last few blog entries have been out there. I will try to do better.

I have been trying to work out ways to have fun this summer and still be able to eat and pay the bills. With the high cost of gasoline I am looking at more frugal ways to entertain ourselves. The kiddos desperately want to go to Chattanooga to Lookout Mountain and the aquarium, but we have put that on hold until it cools down a little and the school kids go back to school.

My other options are to try to do things that are free or close to it. There isn't a whole lot to do around here. Many of the things are planned as school trips for the fall, Civil War battlefields, Indian mounds and such. I am thinking I will take them to the Memphis Zoo one Tues. and the Pink Palace Museum another Tues. afternoon since you can enter with a valid TN drivers license after 2 and it is free. The gas will cost some but not as much as full entry to either places any other time.

Our pool has been a life saver. The kids have been in it almost every day. I have been in it a
lot too. It was well worth the money.

We may still plan a trip to visit my SIL in Georgia. She is only a about an hour from the beach. The only issue is trying to find a time to go that works for everyone. Ug, schedules.
