I wish I had a pause button sometimes, especially for days like yesterday and today. It has been CRAZY around here. Let me begin saying that planning doesn't go well when any part of the plan involves your hubby arriving home and on time via an airplane.
Let me explain. First, I would like to take you to my dream weekend. It began with a Saturday of going to the local Wally World and purchasing some furniture I have been wanting to get for lounging around our pool and to have a comfy place to sit while the kids swim. Then I would help my hubby with the yard work. Sunday would be a day of leisure. The hubby wanted to take the kids to see Kung Fu Panda and I was going to spend a quiet afternoon at home scrapbooking. Ahh, so sweet.
Now lets get back to reality. My hubby was to return home yesterday evening via an airplane. As you may have guessed this did not occur. He made it as far as Chicago O'Hare on his return trip from Canada and all flights coming our way were cancelled. Then he couldn't get on another flight until maybe late Saturday or sometime Sunday. Oh, and since so many flights were cancelled most of the hotels were booked up. He calls and asks what can we do. He so did not want to stay in the airport for two days. He has spent the night in a few and it is not his favorite thing to do. He had been up since 2:30 am and was exhausted. I put on my thinking cap and finally I ask him to try to get at least half way by bus. I mean I wasn't really in the mood to drive 8+ hours to Chicago with 2 kids. He ended up not being able to get a bus out last night, but there was a hotel room available near the bus station. I booked him a seat for a early, early morning ride. He didn't have any luggage. It was all at the airport (they had misplaced his luggage, go figure). TT and I drove up and met him today. The only big plus was that we had to eat Jack in the Box tacos. Darn!! So after over 7 hours in a bus and 4 to 5 in our car he is home. Whew, I'm still spinning and a little nauseous from all those tacos.
This has been a heck of a week. It seems like everyone has wanted a piece of me this week and there isn't much left for the weekend. Now instead of relaxing tomorrow I get to spend it driving my hubby 80+ miles to the airport to retrieve his truck and hopefully his luggage.
I know next week will be brighter. Here is hoping.
